Lerner and Loewe’s masterwork boasts hit songs (“Almost Like Being in Love,” “The Heather on the Hill”), but more important, this 1947 musical pierces the heart: It’s the story of Tommy Albright, an American who has been emotionally scarred by World War II, but who reclaims his soul in the Scottish Highlands with a lass named Fiona. Bill Rudman and Nancy Maier will tell that story, along with the saga of the musical’s creation, aided by a company of soloists, a chorus and an instrumental ensemble playing new orchestral arrangements.
