Before the Residency
TEACHER MEETING:
Two to four weeks before your residency, TMTP staff will meet with you to confirm or select your musical(s), create a residency schedule and distribute Teacher Preparation Guides that include information on each musical, lesson plans, pre- and post-residency activities for your classrooms, vocabulary words and curriculum supports.
WATCHING THE MOVIE IN ADVANCE:
You will receive DVD copies of the movies at your teacher meeting so that students can watch the videos prior to your KLM residency. Please return the DVDs to your teaching artist by the end of the residency.
NAME TAGS:
Please ensure that each student has a name tag on both days. This will help your teaching artist make great connections with your kids and assist in classroom management.
During the Residency
PARENT/GUARDIAN COMMUNICATION
Parent flyers are available for each musical as well as a musical theater resource sheet for students who are interested in further exploration of theater arts. Please feel free to copy these to send home with your students.
CURRICULAR SUPPORT
Kids Love Musicals! supports countless Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) outcomes, as well as State of Ohio curriculum benchmarks in K-5 English Language Arts, Music, Drama, Dance, Deep Learning.
After the Residency
TEACHER EVALUATIONS
Two-Day Residencies:
You will receive hard copies at your teacher meeting or from your teaching artist on day one of your residency. Thank you for taking just a few minutes to give us your feedback. It helps so much to learn about your experience with the program!
