The first CD by Eric Comstock,one of New York’s (and this country’s) finest singer-pianists working in jazz and cabaret. Comstock has performed regularly at the Algonquin Hotel and the Supper Club in New York, the Gardenia in Los Angeles and other top venues. A triple threat – he’s also an arranger – Comstock is in the forefront of a new breed of performer.
On this album, Comstock is backed by some of the jazz world’s best sidemen including Ken Peplowski of Concord Records, saxophonist Harry Allen, bassist Frank Tate, drummer Scott Napoli and horn player extraordinaire, Kurt Weiss.
The exciting CD features a wonderful mix of standards and rarities by Cy Coleman, Victor Young, Leonard Bernstein, Schwartz and Dietz, Strouse and Adams, Jerome Kern, Vincent Youmans, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Jule Styne. Comstock is saluting a veritable Who’s Who of American popular song.
