STEP INTO THE CABARET

Forge Deeper Connections

In addition to our Song Is You! concert series, The Musical Theater Project produces several special events each year. These include our elegant annual benefit, an intimate cabaret and two cozy Members-only gatherings.

The Musical Theater Project hosts two private events each year to show appreciation for and personally connect with the Members who support our work.

Cabaret is an important distillation of musical theater, and Rendezvous celebrates the art of cabaret by evoking the spirit of its golden age in New York (and Cleveland) during the 1940s and 1950s. As James Gavin writes in his book Intimate Nights: “There was in these nightclubs an electricity, a subtle romantic aura, an air of sophistication that made you feel like a member of the elite….No theater or television could have engendered such artistry, for the tiny quarters of these clubs contained one precious element: intimate human contact.” In TMTP’s Rendezvous, great words and music are savored by an intimate community of artists and audience, creating our own intimate nights. Our next Rendezvous Cabaret is being planned for October 2026 at the Hunt Club.

The Song Is You!

Walk On: The Power of ‘Carousel’

In 1999, Time magazine named Carousel the Best Musical of the 20th century and wrote that Rodgers and Hammerstein “set the standards for the 20th century musical…this show features their most beautiful score and the most skillful and affecting example of their musical storytelling”. Join BILL RUDMAN and NANCY MAIER for an in-depth look at this musical theater classic in The Musical Theater Project’s production of Walk On: The Power of Carousel. Bill and Nancy will tell the story, along with the saga of the musical’s creation, aided by soloists, a chorus and an instrumental ensemble.
